Although it’s the end of February, I still have a couple more hours to go to squeeze in my February Birchbox review and first impressions.
This month’s boxes were themed “beauty through the decades” in three designs of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s . I chose the 70’s, as the flower power colour scheme gave me all sorts of feels. 🙂
I’ll start with the two I liked the least, which both happen to be hair products.
Bumble and Bumble Thickening Spray (30ml) – I did not like this spray at all. It knotted up my hair while I was blowdrying. My hair didn’t feel “thick and shiny”. Instead it felt like I had “salt water hair”. You know that sticky, tangly feeling your hair gets when you’ve been by the sea.
Percy and Reed Quite Frankly Flawless Finishing Polish (30ml) – This cream didn’t do anything for my hair. It could be because it claims to “smooth, control or groom unruly hair”. I have fine, (and in this cold weather) limp hair. I’ve used Percy and Reed’s No Oil, Oil and that was fabulous. So I think it’s just this particular product that wasn’t suited to me.
The Beauty Crop Eyeshadow Trio in Love You So Latte (full size) – These three coffee-inspired shades are soft, powdery and blend well. They’re nice everyday shades. My favourite of the three is the shimmering nude.
ModelCo Creme Rouge (full size) – This can be used as a pop of colour for both cheeks and lips. Again, I’m not so keen on creme blushes, but this is a pretty shade and blended well. It gave me a healthy, rosy flush. I would use this again.
Lastly, and probably my favourite in this month’s box:
Sebamed Clear Antibacterial Cleansing Foam (50ml) – For an antibacterial wash, this had a pleasant “clean” fragrance, if that makes any sense. My face felt clean, without that dry and tight feeling. I’d definitely repurchase this.
I’d give this month’s box a 2.5 out of 5. The hair products were just “meh” for me. But getting two full sized make up items was pretty cool.
