March Birchbox: Unboxing and first impressions

This month was all about being present and not perfect. I really liked the design of the box as it featured all my favourite colours. A perfect present already!

With the mindset of being in “the now”, I set out to try the five products I received this month. IMG_4814L-R:amika bombshell blowout spray, Glamglow Supermud Clearing Mask Treatment, Rituals The Ritual of Sakura Foaming Shower Gel, Benefit BADgal BANG Volumising Mascara, BLAQ Hydrogel Eye Mask

I’ll start off again with my least favourite product, which AGAIN was a hair texturising spray.

amika Bombshell Blowout Spray(29.6ml) – You may know by now, I do not like texturising hair sprays. They make my hair sticky and I find it hard to blow dry without getting my hair tangled in knots. Despite my dislike of these products, I still gave this one a go- even sprays sections of my hair, combing it then drying it out. It was still the same outcome, and by the time I was done, my scalp was throbbing from all the tugging that took place. It was a very stressful blow out!

Glamglow Supermud Clearing Mask Treatment (15g) – I love clay masks- I think it’s the idea of it purifying my skin as it dries down, sucking out and removing all the gunk, ending with the cleansing ritual of rinsing it all off with water. This mask spread on easily and had a slightly medicinal scent to it. I left it on for 20 minutes and my face felt clean and fresh after rinsing it off. This sample was only enough for one application, but I reckon I’d buy the full size.

Rituals The Ritual of Sakura Foaming Shower Gel (50ml) – This was the star product for me, in this month’s box. Upon squirting the gel out, it immediately transformed into a rich and creamy foam that smelt amazing- like cherry blossoms and white tea. I felt like my skin was being utterly pampered. A little went a long way and the lather was creamy enough for shaving my legs as well. This deluxe size is great as it has a substantial amount. I’ve popped it in my gym bag and will definitely be purchasing the full size once I’m done with this one.

Benefit BADgal BANG Volumising Mascara (30g) – I’ve always preferred mini mascaras as I don’t feel they’re being wasted after the recommended 3 month shelf life. Benefit always churns out awesome mascaras, like their “They’re Real” collection. This one is just as good, creating full, long lashes with just one coat in a rich black colour. This lasted the whole day without any flaking and it was easy to remove.

BLAQ Hydrogel Eye Mask (one pair) – This was my first time using an eye mask and after trying this out, it won’t be my last! These eye patchy things felt like a jelly mask. Unlike a sheet facemask where I can sit upright and do stuff with it on, these ones began to slide down a little, unless I was reclined. It felt cooling upon application, which was great for my tired, puffy eyes. I didn’t notice a huge difference after I removed them, but my under eye area felt a lot more moisturised. I really should have tried these out sooner and will be purchasing a box of them.

All in all, I enjoyed most of the products in my March Birchbox and would rate it 4 out of 5.
